This weeks object comes from the Science Museum Group Collections where it is described as 'Two groups of playing cards, possibly two separate packs, motifs printed in black, decorated on reverse, Canton, Chinese, 1801-1830'. A transcription of the label on the lid is given as 'For Mrs Geo. Pearse .Ano 1840/From the 37th M.N.S./ very good & interesting/CHinese Playiong cards/From Canton/of the beginning XIX Centry: AD/About'
